Captain John Tinsley began captaining bareboat charters in 1991. He completed his ASA Sailing Certification in 1991 and his Bareboat and Coastal Cruising ASA Certification in 1992. He has sailed the waters of Belize, BVI's, Windward Islands, The Grenadines, St. Martin, Guadeloupe, St. Lucia and Martinique as well as the Australian Great Barrier Reef, Florida Keys and Lake Texoma. The list keeps growing.

John is our snorkel master and is always happy to give instructions. John's easygoing manner makes him a delightful shipmate. We are proud to have John as a regular Captain with Linda's Sailing Adventures.

Captain Fred Allen is our most accomplished sailor, with his Master Mariner’s License and his Captain’s Six-Pack License. Fred has his Instructor Certification with American Sailing Association (ASA) and can certify anyone for basic keelboat, basic coastal, bareboat chartering, and coastal navigation.

He is the current owner of a Catalina 36’ berthed at Texoma’s Cedar Mills Marina.

Fred has been a charter captain since 1984 and has sailed the Caribbean, Texas Gulf Coast, Annapolis, Seattle’s San Juan and Gulf Islands, Chesapeake Bay, and the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. His most recent journeys have been to the Italian coast and Greece.

Captain Tom Vroom has been sailing and boating since a child on the coast of Maine. There have always been boats in his life. He has been an owner of boats from 22’- 42’ power and sailboats.

Tom is an accomplished mechanic and a leader in the airline industries maintenance functions. Tom’s expertise has been a godsend on charters when anything mechanical needs attention.

Tom began as a charter captain with Linda’s Sailing Adventures in 1991 and has been one of our most requested captains.

Captain Bob Methven finished the US Navy sailing school in 1987. He has been a sailboat owner since 1985. It seems he usually owns a boat in every place he frequents, even in Denver, Florida, Flower Mound and Hawaii. Bob sails the Hawaiian Islands every chance he gets. He so loves these islands that he and his bride Marianne, also a very experienced sailor, were married on his boat in Hawaii in March 2003. The photo above is Bob as Captain at his wedding.

Captain Bob has been a charter Captain with Linda's Sailing Adventures since 1996 in Greece. He has also sailed the Mediterranean, Greece and Italy as well as the BVI's several times. Bob is a very happy and easy going Skipper and some of the best trips we have taken were with Captain Bob.

Captain Dr. Bob Kaman, a multifaceted skipper, is a long time sailboat owner and private pilot. In addition, he holds a Ph.D. and is Dean of the Ft. Worth Medical School in Texas.

Dr. Bob has been sailing since 1959. He has been a charter captain several times and is new to Linda’s Sailing Adventures. His recent tour with us of the Windward Islands on a Catamaran left his crew wanting more time with Dr. Bob.

We are looking forward to many more trips with this great guy. Now we have our resident medical expert on board.

Captain Janee Elston started sailing on the weekends in Southern California back in the early 1980's. Frequent trips from Long Beach to Avalon got her hooked. After a dry spell in the late 1980's Janee started sailing in the BVI's with a group of ladies from American Airlines. Every year, Janee and the "Knotty Ladies" compete on Beneteau 50's in the all airline interline regatta held. In addition, she has raced numerous times in the BVI Spring Regatta, part of the Caribbean Ocean Racing Triangle (CORT) series, the Virgins Cup race and the annual Dark and Stormy race held in Tortola.

Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Chartering are the ASA certificates Janee holds. She is currently studying to finish the Advanced Coastal Cruising and Coastal Navigation courses.

She has a CAL 24 docked at Scott's landing at Grapevine Lake, TX that gets her out of the terminal and on the water for sunset and moonlit cruises (mainly after work). Laughter and fun are ever present when Janee is around and you can't help but pick up on her enthusiasm and zest for life. She is "the" original Knotty Lady!!

David Johnson has been sailing over 38 years as a Racing & Cruising Captain as well as being the owner of multiple sailboats from 22'-32' on area lakes. He is a boat builder and very knowledgeable in boat maintenance.

Dave currently is the owner of a Catalina 320 on Lake Grapevine, TX. David is an experienced sailor, racer and charter Captain and has sailed with Linda's Sailing Adventures since 1996. He is quite familiar with the 51' Mono-hulls and Catamarans, which we commonly used for our charters.

Dave's 25 years as an airline Captain/Check Airman makes him our best weather expert.
