She began leading Group Flotillas in 1990 and has since sailed the Coast of Maine, Chesapeake Bay, Caribbean (BVI’s, Windward Islands, St. Martin), Baja Peninsula (San Diego to Puerto Vallarta), Hawaii, Galveston Bay, Tahiti, Greek Islands (all of them), Amalfi Coast & Naples Bay, Italy, Sicily, Australia, San Juan Islands, Galapagos Islands, and Turkey. Linda keeps finding new places to explore with sailing friends. Linda is ASA-certified through Coastal & Bare-boat Cruising (1993). She has been awarded both a TPWD Instructor in Boating Safety (1999) and a Coast Guard Approved Certification (1990).
Captain Julie Jacob is a USCG licensed captain who has
been addicted to anything having do with the water since she was a little
girl! In addition to being a fantastic sailor, she is an active NAUI scuba
instructor and trainer and has spent time as a white water rafting guide
in Colorado, Idaho and Arizona.
Julie started sailing in college and now has over 30,000 miles on her resume including a Transatlantic crossing in 2003. She is an avid racer on anything from Hobie Cats to J22's to large Swans. These days, Julie spends the bulk of her vacation time doing offshore deliveries on the East Coast and seasonal trips to the Caribbean. Julie lives in Dallas/Fort Worth area and works in international Treasury and finance. Julie sailed with us on both of our Greece trips and has also sailed the western Mediterranean, the BVI's, the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Baja Peninsula and other Caribbean waters. This year, Julie will be hosting new adventures for LSA - a sailing/scuba trip to the Bahamas and a racing trip to the Caribbean. If you are lucky enough to sail with her, I am sure you will see why we love having Julie onboard!
He currently races his Olson 30 keelboat and Hobie 20 catamaran locally and hits the road frequently for regional, national and world level regattas in the J/24 class. He also competes on various yachts on the East and Gulf coasts and in the Caribbean. His Captain duties take him offshore each year for seaonal yacht deliveries from the U.S. East Coast to the Caribbean, including ports of call such as Newport, Porsmouth, Charleston, Ft. Lauderdale, Key West, Bermuda and various islands of the Caribbean. Chris is a USCG licensed captain and has also done sailing charters and passages in the Pacific and Meditteranean, including two Greek trips with LSA. He is a fantastic sailor and certified sailing instructor. Top that all off with the fact that he is a great guy and we know you will want to sail with him! When not on the water, Chris is a software developer and runs a regatta management service. He lives with his awesome kids, Rachel and Tommy, in Grapevine, TX. Captain Michael Askew has over 10
years of sailing and cruising experience as a sailing club He is certified through the American Sailing Association
in Basic Keelboat and Coastal Cruising and is also a qualified skipper
with the American Airlines Sailing Club, based on Lake Grapevine in the
DFW area. He has skippered boats for us in Italy, Croatia, Greece and
Australia.
Greg owns a MacGregor 26 on Grapevine Lake and is an instructor with his sailing club's annual sailing seminar. He has raced for several years on both Grapevine Lake and Eagle Mountain Lake. Greg has charter sailed in the San Juan Islands, the BVI's, the Sea of Cortez (Mexico), the Greek isles and in Croatia. He has also participated in the Baja Ha Ha Cruisers Rally from San Diego, California, to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Greg and his wife, Selma, are wonderful folks to sail with as their Greek and Croatia crews have told us over and over.
Rob is an experienced Captain who earned his 100-Ton Merchant Marine Officer certification early in life and has owned and captained both power and sail vessels from 12-84'. He has sailed mainly in the Bahamas, the Leeward and Windward Caribbean, the Florida Keys and New Zealand. Today, he defines him self as an accomplished and laid back cruiser. Today, Rob lives in Colorado but gets south as much as possible. Rob has led a fun life with careers as a dentist, commercial pilot, real estate developer and he was in yacht management. He says while he has retired from these endeavors, he remains an active charter Captain. Welcome aboard, Rob!
Dallas completed the ASA Basic Keelboat sailing, Basic Coastal Cruising, and Bareboat Chartering in 2005. He has sailed the waters of Italy, Caribbean, Greece, the Great Barrier Reef, Australia, San Juan Islands, the Galapagos Islands and Turkey. As an engineer, Dallas brings an ability to fix anything on board and assist everyone with electronic equipment, such as GPS for navigation. Dallas' even temperament and charm make him a favorite Captain in foreign waters. We really enjoy having his skills and smiles on our trips!
He has since sailed the Italian Riviera, Greek Isles, Australia's Great Barrier Reef Caribbean BVI's, the Galapagos Islands, and Turkey. On the side, Jim is a Master Race car driver and owns and drives his own Cobra, a race car made famous by Carroll Shelby in the 60's. He also is a sales representative for the awesome Cobra race car. Jim is involved with the Texas Motor Speedway as a driving instructor for Texas Driving Experience. Jim and his wife, Marge, are super hosts and people that we are thrilled to call friends!
Rudy has sailed the waters of the Gulf Coast, Chesapeake Bay, Australia, Croatia, and Italy as well as local Texas lakes. He is an engineer for Texas Instruments and lives with his wife, Lesa, in Rockwall, TX. Rudy has recently retired as a Colonel from the US Army Reserves, giving him more time to devote to sailing. The crew that sails with Rudy reports having the best vacation adventures and are always wanting to sail with him again on his next adventure.
Needless to say, Clyde joined the sailing club in 1998 and, by 2000, he had learned to love sailing and had completed his ASA certifications in Basic Keel Boat, Coastal Cruising, and Bareboat Chartering! He remain an active member in AA's sailing club and assists with training new members, maintaining the club boats, also training University of Dallas students. Clyde has captained or acted as crew on charters to Catalina Islands in CA, many of the Leeward and Windward Islands of the Caribbean, the Chesapeake, San Francisco Bay, Croatia, and Italy.
